Wow, a three day campaign! Congratulations! My daughter will probably be ready this summer.

Hi Tia,

Yes, it was a three day deal! Actually, we started it up out of nowhere. He hadn't been on training wheels or anything. When we rode he was on a trailer bike behind me or my wife. But for some reason we decided now was the time, and it was.

We did have a special advantage, though, and it's not be discounted. We have a magic bike. Yep. We found it along a backcountry road in Western Massachusetts. A couple years back our daughter essentially taught herself to ride on this magic bike, in three days as well.

So when my son began his regime we stressed the import of the magic in the bike. He seemed to take it on board fully. He's humble enough to acknowledge that the magic has a lot to do with his success, but he's pleased.

We actually took a family ride in Tahoe over the weekend. Went a couple miles, I figure. So three days and little bit more has completely changed our family cycling dynamic. I'm siked. I've been waiting for this...

Good luck next summer. I do think it pays to wait until they're ready. It can happen so quickly, and stresslessly, if they are!
