The Danish Poet

More on the travels soon, but for today...

Totally random. I love this film. It's Torill Kove's "The Danish Poet", an Academy Award Winning short film from 2006. I shouldn't try to explain. Just take a look...

Beautiful... and oddly enough, I've often thought about reading Kristin Lavransdatter (though the sheer weight of it is somewhat intimidating).

My best, as always,

Even just thinking about reading Kristin Lavransdatter is enough to get you heavy-duty intellectual points. Nicely done, Bryan.

It's supposed to be brilliant, and I've always been a little fascinated by a more down to earth version of medieval life. What's it like stripped of all the Romanticism with which we view it today? I've heard that Kristin Lavransdatter is that sort of look at medieval life, studying the minute and ordinary rather than the grand and heroic. But then when you actually lift the book off the store shelf you start wondering if maybe you should at least engage in a brief weightlifting program before attempting to read it...

My best, as always,
Bryan Russell
